Assistant Buyer

About the Role:
We are assisting an established, but growing SME that is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join their expanding purchasing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to grow and develop within a business. As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day purchasing operations, supporting the wider procurement team, and helping maintain strong supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, process, and manage purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate supplier and product data, including pricing, lead times, and contact details.
- Liaise with suppliers to confirm orders, track deliveries, and resolve discrepancies.
- Support reporting, KPI tracking, and purchasing analysis using Excel and ERP systems.
- Provide administrative support and cover for team members when required.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience as an Assistant Buyer or in a purchasing or supply chain role preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a proactive approach.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel); ERP experience.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and progress within the role.
