A leading automotive manufacturing business is looking to recruit an experienced Expeditor to join its team. Operating within a fast-paced production environment, the company supplies high-quality manufactured components to a broad customer base and is committed to operational excellence, continuous improvement and outstanding customer service.
This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted flow of raw materials into production. Working closely with suppliers and internal departments, you will play a key part in maintaining material availability, minimising supply chain risks and supporting the ongoing development of a new ERP/MRP system.
As the Expeditor, you will be responsible for –
- Managing the inbound supply of raw materials to ensure uninterrupted production and material availability.
- Expediting supplier deliveries, monitoring MRP requirements and recovering overdue deliveries to minimise production disruption.
- Monitoring inventory levels, safety stock and lead times, proactively identifying shortages and implementing contingency plans where required.
- Liaising daily with suppliers regarding delivery schedules, capacity constraints, shipment progress and overall performance.
- Maintaining accurate ERP data, including purchase orders, supplier confirmations, inventory records and delivery schedules.
- Supporting the implementation and ongoing development of the ERP/MRP system, ensuring material requirements are effectively managed.
- Analysing supplier performance, inventory trends and material availability while working with Procurement, Planning, Logistics and Production teams to drive continuous improvement.
Ideally you will have the following skills & experience –
- Previous experience within an automotive or fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in expediting raw materials or managing inbound material supply.
- Experience working directly with suppliers to ensure timely material deliveries.
- Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems
- Understanding of stock control principles including safety stock, lead times and inventory accuracy.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
