Financial Controller – £55,000 to £65,000 – West Midlands – Manufacturing/Engineering SME

An established SME within the manufacturing and engineering sector is seeking a Financial Controller to head up its UK finance function. This is a pivotal role, reporting directly to the Managing Director, and offers the opportunity to work closely with international stakeholders while driving financial performance and strategic planning locally.

Key Responsibilities of the Financial Controller:

• Full ownership of the UK finance function, working in collaboration with group finance teams abroad.
• Lead the preparation of annual budgets and business plans.
• Oversee monthly and year-end financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Analyse P&L variances and propose corrective actions.
• Manage payroll processes with external providers.
• Support investment planning and profitability analysis.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, audit requirements, and internal controls.
• Provide cash flow forecasting and financial insights to senior leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and reporting.

What We’re Looking For:

• Ideally ACCA or CIMA qualified, though this is not essential.
• Experience in financial management within a manufacturing or engineering SME.
• Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen.
• Proficiency in Excel and financial systems (SAP experience desirable).
• Spanish language skills would be a bonus but not essential.
• A proactive, hands-on leader with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
