Shipping & Logistics Coordinator
A leading provider of integrated logistics and supply chain solutions is looking for an experienced Shipping & Logistics Coordinator to join their fast-paced operations team.
As a Shipping & Logistics Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering high class customer service for a high-volume retail account. Working across a complex drop & swap distribution network you will manage inbound planning, coordinate multiple suppliers, optimise delivery schedules and ensure cost-effective, on-time execution while minimising demurrage.
As a Shipping & Logistics Coordinator, your duties will include:
- Coordinate daily inbound operations across multiple distribution centres, ensuring efficient container movements and delivery schedules.
- Produce and maintain operational reports, providing visibility of inbound activity and container status.
- Monitor container dwell times and proactively manage demurrage and detention exposure
- Develop and manage inbound transport plans across road and rail networks.
- Liaise with suppliers and hauliers to ensure deliveries are completed on time and in full.
- Resolve delivery exceptions and operational issues to minimise service disruption.
- Secure transport capacity and coordinate ad hoc delivery requirements.
- Lead operational review calls with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor performance against KPIs and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Support accurate costing, billing, and financial reporting processes.
To be successful in the role of Shipping & Logistics Coordinator, you will have:
- Previous experience within logistics, transport planning, container operations, supply chain coordination or freight forwarding
- Experience managing inbound transport operations across multiple sites within a fast-paced logistics environment
- Strong understanding of road and rail transport planning, haulage operations, and supplier management
- Knowledge of container logistics, demurrage and detention management and distribution centre operations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience liaising with customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal teams
- Good commercial awareness, including experience managing transport costs, rate structures, and operational profitability
- Proficiency in operational reporting and performance monitoring, with strong attention to detail and system accuracy
