Toolmaker responsibilities include –
- Carry out maintenance and repairs on press tools to reduce downtime and cost.
- Dismantle, assess, and reassemble tools to tight tolerances.
- Estimate repair time and plan handovers for shift continuity.
- Decide whether repairs can be done in-press or need toolroom work.
- Liaise with press ops, maintenance, and team leaders for smooth workflow.
- Complete accurate and detailed work reports after each task.
Toolmaker desirable skills and experience –
- Experience working within a similar role (tooling Engineer, Machinist etc).
- Able to interpret engineering drawings and press tool fault find.
- Time served, or a manufacturing/mechanical engineering education.
